"Romans 9:30-10:21"

I.   The Stumbling Stone 9:30-33
A.   Torah or Christ - Isaiah 28:16
B.   Problem: can Paul preach the rejection of Israel in chapter 9 and the opposite in 11:1?
C.   Making Israel jealous (Rom 10:19; 11:11, 14)
1.   It is God who chooses
2.   Neither Israel nor the Gentiles can be arrogant (remember chapters 1-3)
II.   What is God Planning?
A.   10:3 - What was "their own righteousness"?
1.   The setting right of the world will only be God-generated
2.   We [Christians] we will never set this world right on a macro-level by being a good witness
B.   10:4 - "the telos [possible definition: goal, fulfillment, or end] or end of the law"
1.   Christ is the goal of the law by portraying the heart of God
2.   Christ is the fulfillment of the law &
3.   Christ is the end of the law &
C.   10:14 - "but how are they to believe in one of whom they have never hear?"
1.   Full circle back to the Gentile mission
2.   The message is inclusion, not exclusion
