2.   Highly valued and rare
3.   Paul understood these traits and used them for his purposes
B.   Purpose of the Letter
1.   To substitute presence for absence
2.   To exhort and advise
3.   To respond to critics
II.   Abraham & Christ
A.   4:1 - "What then shall we say? Have we found Abraham to be our forefather according to the flesh?"
1.   Judaism does not look to physical descent
2.   Thus Paul's teaching establishes the law (4:3)
